Course Description

Develop your animation skills from Storyboard to Stop frame Animation. 

Work as part of a team to build a story and idenitify main characters and their roles. Indentify different job roles within animation. 

What we'll cover

Character Design

  • Using concept art, develop a simple character with basic shapes and lines.

  • Consider how the character will Appeal to an audience.


  • Create an armature using aluminium wire.

  • Discover the importance of keeping the model lightweight.

  • Apply modelling clay and found materials to develop the personality of the character.


  • Discover the importance of storyboarding.

  • Identify different camera angles and consider Staging.

  • Establish Timings for the animated sequence.

Stop Frame Animation

  •  Understand the term FPS.
  • Capture sufficient images to create a 15 - 30 second animation.


  • Discover the importance of sound and how this affects the impact of the animation.
